About Lynn

Lynn C Duncan, Dance Teacher and Dance Examiner

Lynn has been a qualified teacher of dance and taught in and around South Lanarkshire, and the South Side and East End of Glasgow for 34 years. Many of her former pupils now bring their children along to dance classes they themselves enjoyed, often in the same venues.

Keeping the dance lessons in the same locations and at the same times over many years, Lynn has built up a solid reputation within the communities where she runs her classes.

A Fellow of the British Association of Teachers of Dance (FBATD), Lynn has also been an appointed examiner for the BATD for the last 20 years, Lynn is very aware of the standards required of pupils wishing to pass the various qualifications open to them.

The dance school has a 100% pass rate, and many pupils of the school have qualified as teachers themselves.

Lynn has also trained and entered many other teachers for professional examination at teacher training courses she runs both for her own pupils/teachers and other professionals in Central Scotland.

The list of other qualifications Lynn C Duncan has achieved as instructor and examiner includes:

About Lynn C Duncan's Dance Schools

Each year the pupils age 3+ have the opportunity to enter BATD dance exams. For each exam they gain a medal and certificate. No child is pressured to sit exams if they do not wish, however it is a really good incentive to work towards and to allow the pupils and parents to see the progress being made throughout the levels. Most children do wish to enter.

We have an end of session Display in December. This is performed in class uniform and therefore costs the pupils nothing. Again no child is obliged to take part but they are great fun and usually Santa makes an appearance!

We also have our main end of session show in June. All dancers are encouraged to take part in the end of year Summer Production.  These are staged in fantastic venues giving children the thrill of dancing on stage. In 2017 we held performances in The Platform Theatre, Glasgow, and The Town House Theatre in Hamilton. All costumes for these performances are hired to the pupils, not sold, to keep the cost to a minimum.

The main tenet of this dance school is the best interest of the pupil. Pupils are treated with respect and caring at all times. Lynn holds Enhanced Disclosure for work with children and the safety and enjoyment of the pupils is her main concern. Lynn holds an Emergency First Aid Qualification.
