UPDATE OCTOBER 2013
Last year being the 30th Anniversary year was a very busy but very enjoyable year. In May we had a huge party with current teachers and older pupils, and many ex pupils. It was a fantastic night and lovely to see everyone.
In June we had our Anniversary shows, with sets from The Lion King, The Wizard of Oz, Bugsy Malone and some retro fast fast disco! The feedback that I received after the show was amazing, you all did me proud, well except when I was attacked with silly string guns at the last performance!!
Now it is onward and upwards, looking forward to our Christmas display and exams in December, then Showtime 2014.
Christmas Display; Sunday 1st December
Exams; Saturday 7th December (Glasgow), Sunday 8th December
UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2012
Congratulations to all the pupils who took part in our shows this year in the Mitchell Theatre in Glasgow and the Town House Theatre in Hamilton. The shows were enjoyed by all the teachers and pupils, and hopefully by all the audience. Thank you all for your fabulous feedback on our hard work.
Next year is our 30th anniversary Dance Show, and I am SOOO proud of all that myself and everybody who has been involved in the dance school has achieved within the years.
We have put on some Fantastic Shows.
Had a fabulous set of exams results year in, year out
I and extremely proud of all the qualified teachers I have produced, both within my own school, the teachers who I have taught who have gone on to run extremely successful dance schools of their own, and the other professionals who have come from all over Scotland and Ireland to achieve and expand their professional qualifications with me.
I am beyond proud of the fun that the pupils have had at my classes, and the life changing friendships some of them have made throughout the years._
Thank you all ladies, and the small number of gentlemen, who I have had the privilege of bringing Dance to, over the last 30 years. It has been an honour, and I have enjoyed ALMOST every minute.
Oh and we have produced one BATD examiner (so far!)
This sounds like a farewell speech; but no way.... I will be around for the next 30 years with any luck!
There are a few plans in the pipeline for this year, and I would be delighted to hear from ex pupils, with a view to including them in the anniversary celebrations.

Our new session has just began and I am delighted to welcome all new pupils as well as all returning pupils to the classes.
At the beginning of the year the dance school ran a sponsered silence and I am so proud to announce that we raised the fantastic sum of £1420 for Maggies Centre and MacMillan through Stephen's footsteps challenge, WELL DONE to all who took part and who donated to these worthy causes.
I was delighted when our latest batch of teachers qualified in Stage (Tap and Modern) earlier in the year. Very well done to Nicola Napier, Mikhaila Thomson, Pamela Alston, Gillian Kelly and Katy Annandale who join the ranks of our qualified teachers. A Freestyle Teacher Training course is starting very soon and I hope to be able to announce some new teachers from this course as well.
In June we held our annual shows in the Mitchell Theatre in Glasgow and the Town House Theatre in Hamilton, well done to all pupils who put on a fantastic performance to a very appreciative audience who lapped up our renditions of Glee, Calamity Jane, Oliver and Streetdance 3d along with captivating performances from our pre school stars.

SPONSORED SILENCE FOR CANCER CHARITIES
Stephen Mackay’s wife Pat has an inoperable cancerous brain tumour, and Stephen has undertaken a massive charity walk from the banks of the Clyde in Glasgow to Inverness.
He will undertake this 185 mile walk in 10 days from 30th April. His aim is to raise much needed monies for MacMillan Cancer Support and Maggie’s Centre.
Stephen is an old friend of mine, and cancer an old enemy. For this reason I have decided to hold sponsored silence events in every one of my dance classes on the week beginning Monday 7th March 2011.
I have decided to set an achievable CHALLENGE for the pupils,
to stay totally silent in class for 30 minutes in the older classes (dancing will continue throughout the silence), and a very challenging 5 minutes in the Pre School Class with no dancing happening and parents who are in the class being asked to take part and help in the silence.
I would ask that you collect whatever sponsorship you can for this event and bring it along to the class on the day. ALL MONEY WE COLLECT WILL GO AS A DONATION TO THE SPONSORSHIP THAT STEPHEN HAS ALREADY RECEIVED.
Whatever you can manage will be gratefully accepted, if every child in the Lynn C Duncan Dance School raises even a tiny amount it will help and we can make a difference.
I thank you in advance for your support of this event. I hope to walk for a day of the challenge with Stephen to show my support and will be handing over the money that we raise to him personally.
THANK YOU AGAIN
PS: You can download a simple sponsor form by clicking here to help you keep track of the money you or your child raises.

Our Summer Shows were yet again a great success with 2 performances in the Mitchell Theatre, Glasgow and 2 in the Town House Theatre Hamilton.
We had scenes from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Fame, Annie and a Michael Jackson Motown Years tribute, plus a variety of fabulous dances from our pre school pupils and an unforgettable "Chair Dance" by our teachers and a super Hip Hop routine by the Hamilton and Blantyre seniors.
The show was fabulously entertaining for the audience and extremely enjoyable for all performers. I really enjoyed my cameo role as Miss Hannigan, and after watching the DVD I hope I didn't scare any young children!
Well done to all performers for their fantastic performances. With a special mention to our "Annie's"; Mairi Coll, Samantha Bestow and Erin McCullagh. A special Well Done to the Motherwell class who took part in their first show just 5 months after the class opened. Also congratulations to the winners of our Annual Awards - Harley Horton, Elana Miller, Gail Griffin and Mikhaila Thomson. Thanks as always to all the teachers for making the show run like clockwork.
In March I became a Zumba instructor and the dance school has now added adult Zumba classes in Hamilton, Blantyre and Lanark, if you haven't tried Zumba yet, give it a go....it is really popular and fabulous fun.
Our classes are now ready to recommence for the new session and I look forward to welcoming all existing and new pupils for more dancing fun.
Most pupils within the dance school recently sat BATD dance exams in our annual exam session, as normal we achieved 100% pass rate, I am delighted to announce that the results were of an exceptionally high standard with 99% of the pupils receiving the top mark possible "highly commended" and the other 1% receiving the second highest award of "commended" also a very respectable result. Congratulations to everyone who entered the exams on the fantastic results.

August 2009 Update; The dance school has had a fabulous year so far. I was honoured to attended the Carl Alan Awards in February, unfortunately I was not lucky enough to bring an award home, however final three was reward enough in itself and the event was a glittering affair which was an experience of a lifetime.
In March three of our trainee teachers passed BATD Associate Freestyle examinations and became qualified dance teachers. Well done ladies.
Our 4 performances of our Summer Show were a great success, enjoyed by the performers and audience alike. Everyone had their own favourites from the programme of Mamma Mia, High School Musical 3, Grease and a variety of performances from our pre school pupils. My own personal favourite was the Thriller set (click here to see picture) which finished the show, the pupils all really put a tremendous effort into customising their hair, makeup and the costumes!! to great effect. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of my teacher’s and trainee teachers for all their fantastic help at the shows, it would be impossible without all your hard work.
The dance school is now starting our new session and I will be delighted to welcome all pupils, existing and new to the new term, when we will be working towards our BATD examinations and Christmas Dance Display at the end of the year and having lots of fun doing so.
“Lynn's absolutely last public performance ever!”
Thank you to Studio 54, Strathaven,
Tel 01357 521571 for the fantastic show photos and DVD.
LYNN NOMINATED FOR AWARD
I am very proud to announce that I was nominated by my dance association, the BATD for a very prestigious Carl Alan award in the Freestyle Outstanding Services to Dance catagory, earlier in 2008. I am even more delighted to say that I have since been short listed to the final three, and invited to attend the award ceremony in London in February 2009. To have reached this stage in the selection process is a great honour and I look forward to attending the event.
